This piano is modelled on Liszt’s personal piano op. 2800, affectionately described by Liszt as his “favourite work associate”. Boisselot pianos are masterpieces of sophisticated, self-assured design. Boisselot sent a concert grand to Odessa for Liszt’s final tour in 1847, and Liszt kept it for many years thereafter. In an example of the close relationship between artists and instrument builders, this piano shaped Liszt’s development from youthful virtuoso to mature composer.
