For some years I have also restored antique pianos. It is interesting in itself, but also important for piano building. I was fortunate in being able to collect crucial data which was not otherwise available, most especially the precise measures of the soundboard and hammer mechanism of Walter and Graf.

I am in close collaboration with Albrecht Czernin, who has restored many of his projects here and is at present assembling with me the plans for a Stein model, soon to appear.

Albrecht Czernin has been working as a restorer in the Museum of Fine Arts, Vienna, under the supervision of Univ. Doz. Mag. Alfons Huber. Mr. Czernin's specialty is keyboard instrument restoration. He is presently teaching restoration at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. Mr. Czernin is mentioned with distinction in Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians.
